Nike’s popular carbon plated racer has had an update to the ZoomX Vaporfly Next% 2. Subtle updates have been made to the upper but the midsole stays pretty much the same. Every run counts; when you pull on the Nike ZoomX Vaporfly NEXT% 2, you probably already a goal in mind. It is still a superlight racing powerhouse with excellent cushioning and propulsion. What makes it so special is its unique forefoot geometry that provides a forward-tipping sensation during each toe-off.
Like most running shoes it does take some breaking for most runners. The midsole certainly has a lot of responsiveness and protection to it even as it transitions through the foam decompression underneath you. The transitions through the shoe overall are pretty smooth. The carbon plate provides stiffness to the shoe which aids toe release as you explode out of your gait cycle. There is plenty of protection underfoot and the foam does a good job of keeping your legs feeling relatively fresh for the given effort. The plate both stabilises the squishy foam and adds propulsion to each stride, helping you to run more efficiently so you’re able to more easily.
